Stylish Christmas Gift Ideas For Teens 2019

Stylish Christmas Gift Ideas For Teens 2019

Have you decided what you are buying for your teen this Christmas or are you, like many others, scratching your head and desperately scouring the web for teen christmas gift ideas?  Teenagers are definitely not easy to buy presents for as they can be so particular about what they want, which makes being creative and thinking outside the box challenging to say the least.

With this in mind it is very easy the older they get to just give up and fall back on the cash or token option but where’s the fun in that?  After all it is the season for giving and really thinking about those you hold close, so whilst I do dread the annual challenge of what to buy my teens, I do get immense satisfaction out of surprising them and getting it right.

If you are still looking for a stylish and inspirational Christmas gift for your teens, read on for my suggestions on those that have worked for me in the past as well as details on my new discoveries for this year.

  • Bluetooth Speaker Ultimate Ears Boom

If your teen is like either of mine the need for constant access to music is imperative.  The portable speaker is commonplace now and we have tested a few models in our house but the one that stands out head and shoulders above all the rest is the UE Boom.  It is reasonably priced, sturdy, waterproof and definitely delivers on the sound.  The only annoying thing for me is my teens keep pinching mine when they forget to charge their own! Our son has had his for at least 5 years now and it has survived many a sports tour, holiday and festival, as well as frequent showers and it’s still going strong, but it may just be time for an upgrade.

  • Headphones

Continuing on the music theme, teenagers are synonymous with headphones and as a family we have had many a lively discussion on which ones tick the style and sound boxes simultaneously.  For boys it’s hands down Beats by Dre. – our son won’t accept anything else, as much from a stylish accessory perspective as anything else and he has been through many an upgrade over the years so they are truly tried and tested.  For our daughter and all her teen mates it’s of course the Apple Airpods – nothing else will do quite frankly.

  • Skincare Kits

Teenagers are all about their skin but with so many brands to choose from it can be overwhelming sometimes to know where to start.  Clarins is a firm favourite with the girls in our house and its new vegan friendly, eco-conscious range My Clarins ticks all the boxes for those environmental campaigning teens whilst guaranteeing to keep their skin clean and fresh.  My daughter loves the RE-MOVE micellar cleansing milk because it is gentle and doesn’t dry out her skin and the RE-BOOST hydrating cream is perfect for that something extra at night.

For teenage boys 31st State is the go to brand we were introduced to last year and remains a firm staple in my son’s wash bag.  Founded by Californian Stephanie Capuano whilst on a quest to find something for her own teenage sons, it is also a range derived completely from natural ingredients.  Its Starter Set which includes all the male grooming essentials together with a Wash Bag, makes a perfect gift for the skin savvy teen boy in the house.

  • The Personal Barber Classic Shaving Starter Kit

Male personal grooming is definitely on the up and there is no greater evidence of that than in the increase in popularity of wet shaving.  Done properly the perfection of a wet shave cannot be surpassed and is a ritual enjoyed by many, with latest statistics showing that 85% of men who shave prefer to wet shave.

Since being handed his first razor, my eldest has delighted in mastering his technique in a quest for the perfect smooth chin, although as with all things of course, there is always room for improvement.  The Personal Barber is a wet shaving subscription box service on a mission to make shaving not only a better experience but also a more enjoyable one. You simply choose the plan that best suits your needs and then they tailor your deliveries accordingly.  If quality and style is your motto then you will like what they have to offer.  Their products are all personally tested to ensure they reach their high standards before being included.  As well as bespoke subscription packages, The Personal Barber also offers a range of reasonably priced starter sets that will make the perfect Christmas gift for the teen boys in your house and introduce them to the benefits of a proper wet shave with a single blade razor, high quality cream and brush.  Every set comes with its own useful set of instructions to guide them on the way.

Mastering the use of a single blade takes time and patience but it is proven not only to deliver a closer shaver but also to be better suited to sensitive skins which makes it perfect for teenagers starting out on their shaving journey.  For my son who has over the years become used to modern cartridges, fingers and foam, adjusting is work in progress, but as with all things practice makes perfect and he is improving daily.  It is certainly not a process to be rushed.  Shaving benefits aside, add to this the fact the blades are also 100% recyclable and this is yet another gift doing its bit for the environment.

  • Travel Accessories
Whether your teen is at the stage of sleepovers, festivals or holidays away with friends, travel accessories are if not the most exciting, always a useful gift.  I have found over the years that the biggest challenge with teens when venturing away from home is keeping track of their stuff, particularly their jewellery or precious items. In our house it was always the earrings that were lost and sometimes just one.  With this in mind I have bought both mine a small travel leather accessories case which has certainly helped to reduce the frequency of missing items.  For the boys Stow does a really simple compass case and for the girls I like the newly launched trinket boxes from our household jewellery favourite Monica Vinader.

It doesn’t need to be Christmas! That’s what I say to my husband anyway when he gets it wrong. There are some great ideas for birthdays here too. My son is a fan of the shaving set – not sure if you have a son? If so give it a whirl. Also a fave of mine is the mini jewellery set and I say that without any paid endorsement of any kind – have bought it for more people than I count.x

Liz my daughter is so easy but I have to confess I am struggling this year with my son but the shaving kit is definitely a winner. Other than that we go round the houses with headphones, FIFA games, wallets, sports kit etc…If you have any winning ideas let me know. X

I have a list as long as my arm for Maddie, but Evan is more difficult. The shaving kit is a great idea, but he’s not quite there yet so it would gather dust!

Oh I know Helen it is so much more difficult with the boys isn’t it and it doesn’t seem to change whatever age. There is always something a girl wants. My own Christmas wish list is always quite extensive but my husband just shrugs his shoulders every year and says he has everything. Keep the shaving kit in mind for your son when he reaches that stage, in the meantime check out the boot bags etc at Apatchy if you haven’t already. Good luck. Xx

Laurie I cannot believe for a second you have teenage grandchildren! I hope you find something that suits. They are all genuinely tried and tested but in terms of the Clarins kit, my daughter has tried lots of skincare brands and this just suits her the best and as my facial lady says they know their stuff! Hope you are well and settled in your new home. X
